First things to check
Before you assume the worst, walk around the car and try every door and the trunk release. Many vehicles keep the trunk linked to the central locking, so if a door is unlocked, the trunk button inside or on the fob may still pop it open. If your fob is in your hand, press and hold the trunk button for a few seconds, since some models need a long press.
Look for a fold-down rear seat or a ski pass-through. On a lot of sedans and SUVs you can drop the back seat from inside the cabin and reach into the trunk to grab the keys or pull the emergency trunk release. That glow-in-the-dark handle inside the trunk is meant for exactly this kind of moment.
Why a mobile locksmith is the safe choice
Prying a trunk lid or forcing a lock can bend the metal, crack trim, or damage the latch, which costs far more than the original lockout. A trained locksmith opens the trunk without that risk, using proper tools to work the lock or the linkage the way the car was designed to be opened.
If your only key is sitting in the trunk, we can also cut and program a replacement on the spot for most vehicles, so you drive away with a working key rather than just an open trunk. We come to you anywhere in West Palm Beach and Palm Beach County, day or night.
Preventing a repeat
The simplest fix is a spare. Keeping a programmed spare key at home or with someone you trust turns a stressful lockout into a minor errand. Many drivers also store a slim emergency blade in their wallet for manual door entry.
Get in the habit of keeping keys in your hand or pocket while loading the trunk, never resting them on top of the bags. If you tend to set the fob down, a small clip or lanyard keeps it attached to you instead of disappearing under the groceries.
